This program is for addiction professionals who want to enhance their skills to address denial using Denial Management Counseling (DMC) in the treatment of addiction, coexisting personality disorders, and mental health disorders.

Through the process of earning credentials as a CDMS, clinicians learn and practice how to deal more effectively with clients exhibiting severe denial and treatment resistance. DMC is a comprehensive clinical system that provides best practices to teach clients to identify and manage the denial patterns they use that prevent them from getting help for their substance use disorder. 

To become a CDMS through the home-base certification program, you must complete a Competency Certification Portfolio that includes all of the required program components in entirety and must be approved by a Gorski-CENAPS Instructor. Instructors are certified in Denial Management Counseling and have been trained to review and evaluate your competency certification portfolio. Our team is here to help you achieve success.  

By completing the necessary home study courses included in the Denial Management Counseling  Home-Based Certification Program, participants will learn, understand, and be able to explain the philosophy of denial and denial management. Participants will learn how to directly deal with the twelve most common denial patterns used by addicted clients and how to implement a treatment plan for teaching client’s denial self-management training in individual, group, or psychoeducation sessions.
